Messy Church

Messy Church is a new way of "being church" designed particularly with the needs of Primary School aged children in mind. Sunday morning is not a convenient time to get together at church for many people, so we hold Messy Church on a Sunday afternoon from 4-6pm.

Each month Messy Church has a special theme, often from the Bible or Christian tradition. We begin by exploring that theme through crafts and activities that both children and adults can enjoy. We then explore the same theme through a short time of worship, with a presentation, which often includes action songs, story telling, and simple prayers. We then sit down together for an informal meal, often with some food that relates to our special theme!

In a publicity leaflet we said "Messy Church is fresh new way of being church!  Life is messy, so we are too!! Messy Church is flexible and fun, to suit modern families..."

We meet on the fourth Sunday of the month 4-6 pm for crafts, activities, games, worship and food, in St John's Parish Room, Church Street, Cleckheaton (BD19 3RN, near the Town Hall).
